About

Decades of technology. A clear view of what AI can actually do.

Balevsky Research Services brings together deep technical experience and hard-won commercial judgment to help mid-market businesses navigate AI adoption without the noise.

Background

Built on experience across the full technology spectrum

My career spans more than two decades working across the breadth of the technology industry — from small software companies to tier-one investment banks, and many points in between. That range is deliberate. It means I have seen how technology decisions play out at every scale, under every kind of pressure.

In smaller organisations, I learned what it means to deliver with constrained resources, where every tool must earn its place and pragmatism is not optional. In large financial institutions, I worked at the intersection of complex infrastructure, regulatory scrutiny, and the kind of data volumes that expose the limits of any system quickly.

That breadth shapes how I approach AI advisory work. I am not selling a methodology or a platform. I am applying pattern recognition built across environments where the stakes were real and the margin for error was low.

Sectors

Where the experience was earned

Financial services

Tier-one investment banks and asset managers — working with trading infrastructure, risk systems, and data platforms where precision and auditability are non-negotiable.  Specilizing in high-frequency trading systems and low-latency order execution.

Software consultancies

Specialist consultancies serving clients across industries — building the ability to diagnose problems quickly and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Small agile tech startups

Resource-constrained environments where there is no room for wrong decisions, but with exceptional potential for growth.

Approach

What this means in practice

The most valuable thing I can offer is not enthusiasm for AI — it is the ability to tell you honestly where it will help, where it will not, and what it will actually take to get there.

AI advisory work is full of people who will tell you what is possible. Fewer will tell you what is probable given your specific constraints — your data, your team, your existing systems, your risk appetite.

My work starts with understanding your business before it touches technology. The right AI strategy for a 200-person professional services firm looks nothing like the right strategy for a manufacturer or a financial intermediary. Generic frameworks produce generic results.

I work with a small number of clients at any one time. That is a deliberate choice. It means the thinking you receive is mine, not delegated to a junior team working from a template.

If that sounds like the kind of counsel you are looking for, I would be glad to talk.
